Ideas described in the Introduction are seen in action in many booths of the fairground, re-inforcing the stomach-churning effects of the Big Dipper or the bumping sensations of the Dodge’em cars. The mock sinister sideshow, such as the Ghost-ride concentrates on optical illusion and fluorescent colour effects. Physical contests such as Test-Your-Strength and the stirring up of laughter give the colourist a lot of exciting themes to exploit with cunningly appropriate colours. |
