Explanation of the Array Diagrams


It is the different parameters of colour that control the guidelines determining the significance and usage of colour.

(RIGHT) A specimen colour is placed in the centre of the diagram.


The colours next to the specimen colour will show how it can be intensified, that is to say made more saturated.


The next colours outward from the centre show a weakening or desaturation of the specimen colour.


Colours placed above the central specimen are lighter, whilst the colours placed below are darker.


Colours to the left of the specimen colour are colder or bluer.

Colours to the right of the specimen colour are warmer or nearer to red or orange.
