In Islamic Countries GREEN has special significance for all Muslims. A GREEN turban is worn by those who have visited the shrine of Mahomet at Mecca, and green is universally the symbol of immortality. Different sects also give weight to other colours.


Cyprus
BLUE and WHITE is a favorite combination of the Greeks. This preference is often strong enough to influence choice when buying such articles as pottery. GREEN is liked by the Turkish population because of their Muslim tradition. BRIGHT COLOURS are usually acceptable to both races.


Iraq
Avoid colour combinations of the flags of other nations. OLIVE GREEN of the national flag should be avoided. GREEN signifies Islam BLACK is for Mourning BRIGHT RED is for passenger transport GREY is for Police vehicles DEEP BLUE was worn by devout Shias who were in mourning for Hussein.


Israel
WHITE and SKY BLUE are the National colours, very popular, but commercial exploitation of them is deprecated. YELLOW is regarded unfavourably because of the medieval stigma of the yellow patch to label the Jew, revived by Hitler.

BRIGHTER COLOURS are preferred by the Yemen and Middle Eastern immigrants. MORE CONSERVATIVE COLOURS are preferred by immigrants from Europe.
LIGHT BLUE is very popular with Muslim Arabs as they believe it protects them from the Evil Eye.


Syria
INDIGO, BLUE, RED and GREEN used to be favorite colours in that order. YELLOW is avoided by the Muslim population because it symbolises death.
