Virtual Reality
Colour is used in two main ways in the virtual reality scenario. The first is the functional use and the second an emotive one. Both these usages can be extremely sophisticated.Within functional colour usage there are three colour concepts involved. Firstly the symbolic in which there may be safety coding or some other formulary that gives information about significant details.

Secondly, realistic in which the prospective site of, for example, a new building is reconstructed as it may appear in reality. Thirdly there can be a hyper real colouring which raises the character of the experience to another level of as it were a hyper reality as in a theatrical, filmic, or some other science-fictional mode.

On the other hand the creator of the virtual reality experience may be a designer with a fantastical imagination. He needs to be aware of the full potentialities of his expressive medium, from explosive chaos to the sense of as yet unexploded power banks to the excesses of ingenious specificity and from there to the atmospheric and amorphous or aqueousness! For example:

The aqueous unconscious - Bogdan Tiganov
