| Much of Crowley's colour symbolism came from a central tradition of astrological attributions. The meanings of these derived from the greatest antiquity, even as far back as the writings of the Mesopotamians. The ancient colours ascribed to the heavenly bodies had been identified by the Egyptologist, prof. sir Wallis Budge. Gold was the symbol of the Sun, green Venus, silver the Moon, red Mars, blue Jupiter and black Saturn. |
