It was believed that the colours of the 'planets' derived from the minerals that emanated from them, lead from Saturn, copper from Venus, iron from Mars, Mercury from Mercury, tin from Jupiter, gold from the Sun and silver from the Moon. The more recently discovered planets had colours attributed to them according to the personal inclinations of the practitioner.
