Colour as an Instrument of Empowerment
With Special reference to Micro Academy's ProMICAD System for Empowerment
<<Back to Introduction
Colour is a factor that is universally appreciated at non-verbal level. Few even try to specify the precise parameters of a colour. More responses to colour are affective and emotive than cognitive and intellectual. This means that colours, while seemingly innocuous, may have a direct route to the inner life of a person, even to ones unconscious mind, and they have proved a powerful instrument for assessing inspirational qualities, such as enthusiasm, empathy, job satisfaction and subtle aspects of ones potentialities. |
A program that analyses and empowers
The interactive computer program, ProMICAD, selects concepts that describe personnel at their best. A choice of colours is made by the user. This homes in to a special set of personalized questions, selected by the computer program to be appropriate for the person choosing the colours. The answers to these questions lead to an evaluation of the particular person's capabilities and potentialities. This is then 'inwardly digested' and edited by the user. In this way people are able to visualize their own characterological assets as distinct from their liabilities. It has been particularly successful in boosting the self confidence of personnel who have been over-modest and lacking in self-confidence. |

Colours put into the upper squares tend to suggest states of mind different from those put into the lower. Different again are the mental states suggested by colours put in the right and left halves of the divided square. |
